HAIR TUTORIAL : THE FRENCH BRAID
I wanted to share with you a new hair tutorial to show you how to make a messy french braid. This hairstyle is perfect for a wedding or a summer party. To achieve this style, I used a little extra : hair extensions !
My relatively short hair doesn’t allow me to do a lot of fancy hairstyles, but you can easily cheat with clip-in extensions ! I used the one from Rubin Extensions, in the “natural golden brown” colour, which seemed to be really close to my own hair colour. I wasn’t wrong, the result is perfect !
It’s disturbing to see a picture of myself with such a long hair… The last time I had this length, I was still in high school !
I also think that curly, messy hair is easier to style than smooth, straight hair. Therefore, the hairstyle I’m going to show you will be simpler to do, because the strands of hair won’t slip out of the braid.
– To make a french braid, start by taking three different strands on the top of you head : one on each side of your head and one behind. Start to braid them like a regular braid.
– Then, each time you will put one of the strand on the right or on the left, add a strand from the hair situated under.
– Repeat until all of your hair is trapped inside the braid and end it like a regular one, by tying it with a small hairband.
I don’t like “perfect” hairstyles and I purposely gave a messy, romantic finish to my braid. I find it way prettier ! The advantage is that you don’t really need to be meticulous…
Also note that you can create a french braid with shorter hair, even though the finish result won’t be as dense as here.
You can leave the french braid as it is on your shoulder, or you can put it inside the hairstyle and secure it with hairpins : you will obtain a really nice braided low bun ! Personally, I love this option, which is elegant and sophisticated, yet practical and really quick to make. You are starting to know me, I always choose simplicity !
For a wedding, don’t hesitate to pin a few fresh flowers in your braid, or use pretty decorative hairpins !
