Recipe to cook a pasta sauce.

Pasta with butter and grated cheese are okay… But a more sophisticated accompaniment is also nice. Between the bolognese and the arrabbiata, this pasta sauce is a killer, and this is without a doubt the best I’ve ever eaten !

Gleb gave me an idea recently, and I’ve decided to start a new category of posts : “Gleb is cooking”. I’m lucky enough to have a boyfriend who loves to cook (and eat) and his recipes deserve to be on this blog. I’m more of a pastries and desserts kind of girl, whereas he excels at cooking salty dishes. We were made for each other, weren’t we ? 😉

Enough talking, let’s take a closer look at this delicious pasta sauce…

To cook this pasta sauce, you’ll need (for 4 persons) :

  • 3 to 5 onions, depending on their size
  • 1/2 yellow bell pepper
  • 1/2 red bell pepper
  • 5 big button mushrooms
  • 5 garlic cloves
  • 100g of diced bacon (smoked if possible)
  • 500g of ground beef
  • a can of tomato sauce
  • red pesto
  • white wine
  • olive oil
  • salt/pepper
  • pasta of your choice

How to cook a good pasta sauce.1 – Slice the onions and sauté them in a pan with some olive oil. Simmer on low heat during a few minutes.
2 – Meanwhile, wash and cut all the other vegetables : the bell peppers, the mushrooms and the garlic. Put them in a plate with the bacon.

Recipe with onions and bell peppers.3 – Go back to your onions and pour the equivalent of a glass bottom of white wine into the pan.
4 – Add the vegetables and the bacon, as well as a drizzle of olive oil and leave to reduce over low heat during ten minutes.

Easy dish.5 – Then, add the ground beef, the tomato sauce and three tbsp of red pesto. Season with salt and pepper and mix everything well.
6 – Simmer uncovered over low heat for approximately twenty minutes, and use this time to cook your pasta !
