Before moving to Malta, I had never bought any product from The Body Shop. But on my small island, I quickly understood that there wasn’t a lot of choice : as you can imagine, no Sephora around. And one day, I discovered a small The Body Shop boutique, and decided it was time to give it a try. It has since became one of my favourite brands.
A few weeks ago, I bought these four products : a sleeping mask for a bouncy skin, an eye product to fight against puffiness and signs of aging, a moisturising matifying day cream and a clearing facial wash. I had the time to make my own opinion about them, and I’m sharing it with you.
I have a combination skin that is easily dehydrated (and my tendancy to not drink enough water isn’t helping). I often have a dull complexion and my skin is marked at the end of the day.
Happy I was when I found this sleeping mask meant to give you a bouncy skin ! This was exactly what I needed. Its promises : a moisturised and bouncy skin when you wake up.
MY OPINION : this mask keeps its promises. My skin is smooth, fresh and bouncy when I use it.
The texture is realy surprising, elastic and compact : I would compare that to english jelly. The smell is fresh and really light. A spatula comes with the product so you can take it without leaving bacterias in the pot.
Regarding the application, I don’t advise you to put too much product on your face : even if it sinks in quickly, this is really sticky. The first times, my pillow and I almost became siamese siblings.
I don’t really understand the “mask” appellation. To me, this is more of a cream. Applying this as a classic mask (a thick layer all over the face) would be a bad idea.
It looks like this jar is going to last for decades, but I will buy it again without a doubt once empty !
This product comes from the same line as the previous one. This is an eye contour care meant to smooth this area, reduce puffiness and brighten the face. It has a ball applicator to erase signs of tiredness easily.
MY OPINION : This is a good product. After using it for several days, morning and night, I had already noticed a smoother and incredibly soft skin. Regarding tiredness marks, no miracle for me, I always had bad dark circles that even concealer has a hard time to erase, this is unfortunatelly genetic (thanks Mom). But this is a good stuff to prevent the early signs of ageing around the eyes and to moisturise this area.
However, I’m afraid it won’t suit sensitive skins very well : I noticed a few (light) tinglings during the first applications, and I don’t have delicate eyes.
A small advice : don’t fully press the pump because it delivers a big amount of product.
To please my dehydrated combination skin, I tried this daily skincare, meant to keep your face moisturised yet matified.
MY OPINION : this is a good product that will especially please oily to normal skins. It won’t be enough for a dry skin, though.
At first, I fell for the smell – that I couldn’t describe to you – and for the texture. A kind of thick pink sorbet, almost grainy. A sensation of freshness follows the application and I think I will like it even more in the summer !
Regarding the result, my face is moisturised and not shiny at all, I don’t feel any unpleasant residue on my skin. This is a good base before your makeup.
After I take my makeup off with coconut oil, I like to use a cleanser. Ever since I live in Malta, I sometimes have small pimples, especially on my shoulders. I don’t know why, and even if this is not a big deal, it bothers me because I never had imperfections before. Therefore, I opted for a clearing product.
MY OPINION : Not convinced. I really don’t like the tea tree smell, but this is personal and it doesn’t affect the efficiency of the product. However, I didn’t notice any improvement on my skin. Maybe it could help a real acneic skin, but nothing happened for me. What I saw was a simple facial wash, pleasant but not transcending.
